The Lenten season begins this Wednesday so during the later part of last week we pulled out all our resources to decide what activities we wanted to participate in for this year. While reading a couple other blogs on line I really enjoyed "The Loveliness of Lent" fair that Nissa hosted. Nissa will also be hosting These Forty Days for more ideas and thoughts about the season. It is so inspirational to read what other families will be doing this season.
Our family has begun to build such wonderful traditions around other seasons in the Liturgical year like Advent and Christmas, Baptismal Anniversaries and Feast Days that during these past couple years as our family has grown we have also felt a strong desire to create more traditions for this very important season in our Christian lives. Living our faith more fully through all these Liturgical traditions has really helped our family to develop deeper spiritual lives and more intimate relationships with our Lord and His one true church!
As I continue with our own Lenten preparations this week, and find myself wanting to *do* everything with the children I have to remind myself I really just need to keep it simple. After all this is the whole purpose of Lent isn't it?
I really could go on and on about some of our favorite traditions but I think Dawn summarized so many of them in her beautiful posting on What is Lent? that I will stop here. I hope everyone has a simplistic and blessed Lenten season as we prepare for Easter!!
