What has inspired me to write this post is that unfortunately right now in my life, there are a couple of very dear families that are battling with teen/adolescent addictions and suicide tendencies. As a mom that has recently discovered how painful it can be as the parent watching your child suffer, I can only hope and pray that some of these deliverance prayers can offer your families some peace and comfort. Please know my dearest friends, our family is praying for you and your children everyday!!
As Christians we all know that the Lord's Prayer is the most perfect of prayers, well it can also be used as a deliverance prayer. Fortunately this prayer is incorporated into many Catholic prayers like the rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet and Mass. Our family still tries to say it every morning if we don't go to daily Mass.
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, from every evil,
and grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us free from sin
and protect us from all anxiety
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom,
the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles;
I leave you peace, my peace I give to you.
Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom
where you live for ever and ever.
Amen.
In Fr. Gabrielle Amorth's book he mentions the importance of the St. Michael the Archangel's prayer. He states that before the reforms of Vatician II at the end of *every* Mass, celebrants would kneel and say a prayer to Mary and one to St. Micheal the Archangel. He also says this is a powerful prayer and brings great benefits to those who pray it. Unfortunately not all parishes say this prayer anymore. Our home parish only says it after daily Mass, but not after Sunday Mass, so our family has made it a habit to kneel afterwards and say this prayer. If we are at daily Mass we will kneel and recite another deliverance prayer or the Litany of Humility prayer.
defend us in battle;
be our protection,
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen
I think these particular prayers will be very helpful for those poor suffering families. Fr. Amorth's book lists some other wonderful deliverance prayers, that I will put into another post, later.
